Defining Arena Cards of The Boomsday Project

With the newest expansion of Hearthstone, the Boomsday Project, dropping tomorrow I thought I would take a look at how the new cards might impact the only game mode that really matters: the Arena. I’ve learned it’s pretty pointless to try to evaluate which classes will see a boost in the expansion, and that lesson seems doubly important now that cards are separated into different drafting tiers. Where Blizzard decides to “bucket” these cards will be one of  the biggest factors. Once that information is released, it should be a little easier to try to figure that out. Even still, it’ll be a few months until we know for sure. So, instead, I’m going to make some more confident predictions by looking at what I deem to be…

Meme Streets of Gadgetzan

Let’s take a break from talking about serious stuff like elections and strategies and rules of war to talk about something much less serious, Hearthstone’s newest expansion that comes out tomorrow, the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. What does that mean? More cards for one thing. That means that there are new possibilities for new, powerful decks. But it also means that there are possibilities for new, stupid decks that exist solely for the enjoyment of the game. So while we’re breaking from the serious, we aren’t breaking from memes. Rather than try to predict what cards will be good and which cards won’t be, I’m going to look at some fun interactions that might exist in this deck and the cards that’ll make that happen. Some of them…

More thoughts on Karazhan

I promise, at some point, I’ll post about something other than a children’s card game. Next week, I’m going to make some NFL predictions (spoiler alert: I’m going to look like a homer… Go Pack Go) and I’ll probably go off on a tangent about the WWE because the Miz is just too good to ignore right now. But, for now, I’ll stick to the black hole where I waste my time that is Hearthstone. Yesterday, Blizzard released new cards from the One Night in Karazhan adventure, most notably Purify (on the “bad end”) and Menagerie Warden (on the “good end”). These are the cards on which I’m going to focus today, because I think they’re worth talking about for one reason or another. First, Purify. If you’re reading…

Praise be to the new Gods

It’s only been one week since the release of Morose and I’m already deeply in love with this card if only for the reason that it allowed me to rebuild my beloved, cancerous Secret Paladin deck. Once again my opponents are crumbling before the harrowing question “Who am I?” and the chilling response, cutting you off before you can interject, stating “None of your business”. The Decklist is something like: 2x Competitive spirit 2x Get down 2x Redemption 2x Secret Keeper 2x Selfless Hero 2x Argent Protector 2x Follow the Rules 1x Moroes 2x Rallying Blade 2x Steward of Darkshire 2x Consecration 2x Keeper of Uldaman 2x Truesilver Champion 1x Justicar Truehart 2x Mysterious Challenger 1x Fire Rag 1x Tirion Fordring My win rate is around 70 percent and…

Predictions and Rants for Karazhan

At around 1 PM central time tomorrow (or maybe the day after, depending upon the servers) the newest expansion for Hearthstone entitled “One Night in Karazhan” will be released to the public for purchase and I gotta say, I’m really, really excited for this. I understand that a lot of the player base is in some sort of uproar about how terrible that expansion is, but then I remember that people have a really good habit of never being pleased with anything. In my eyes, one of my choice activities is about to get a bunch of new content introduced into the game that I can use. The children’s card game gets to be a little more complex. Plus, there’s going to be a shit ton of stupid…

Welcome to the salt mine

I really like playing Hearthstone. I think it’s a pretty great game and there are a lot of interesting mechanics. I mean, enjoy it so much that I’m starting up this blog so that I can write about it. Well, that and so I can opine about whatever else I’m thinking about. People at work are tired of hearing me call Kevin Durant a pussy and listen to me giving them stock advice, so now I’m going to leak whatever’s on my mind out here for you to read. All of that said, as much as I enjoy Hearthstone, there’s a least one interaction in the game each day that drives me to seriously re-consider my life decisions in terms of the time I spend playing this game.…
